The Jones Family Farm

Take a breath of fresh country air and get ready for authentic Texas farm cooking "made from scratch".

Sit a while on the porch, watch the kids run and play, stroll through the garden and nature walk, visit our Country Pleasures Gift Shop, or just prop your feet up and watch a magnificent West Texas sunset. Take the time to think about the really important things in life and enjoy reminiscing with family and friends at The Homeplace.

Marvin Augusta Jones (Papa) and Linnie Laura Whatley Jones (Granny) bought this 160 acre farm in 1924. They raised cotton, wheat, maize, cattle, vegetables, chickens and seven children. Marvin, a successful farmer, family man, community and church leader and friend to his neighbors passed away in 1947. Linnie continued running the farm with the help of her children, Modelle, Garland, Rex, Wastelle, Burl, Veda and Nelda.

In 1985, the landmark farmhouse suffered irreparable damage in a fire and had to be demolished. A small home was soon situated on the same site that Granny Jones lived in for a year, passing from this life at the age of 97.

Five generations have been blessed with a strong spirit of family that was fostered under the roof of that beautiful old farmhouse. Granny's strong faith held the family together and her abiding love of family and friends will always be remembered by everyone who knew her.

On Sundays and holidays, the family gathered at Granny's to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal along with family fun and fellowship. Eating together, washing dishes, listening to storytelling, walking down through the pasture and singing hymns for Granny on the front porch are all cherished memories of this family and The Homeplace.

In 1998, Linnie's granddaughter Lynne Keys and her husband Bill purchased the farm and by God's Grace, The Homeplace Restaurant and Country Pleasures Place opened in June of 2001.

Once again, the Jones family, and our wonderful staff, are serving authentic Texas farm cooking on the Jones Family Farm
